<thetext>If the git client configuration is set as https url's instead of git prefix. It can't find the path of yocto-kernel-tools. I think the reason is additional string '/git/' in the https path.

It didn't use to happen until the 30th of April.</thetext>

Adding michael to cc, did the configuration change?</thetext>

    <thetext>Official address of kernel-tools see at :
https://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/yocto-kernel-tools/
in "Clone" subsection/
----------------
git://git.yoctoproject.org/yocto-kernel-tools
https://git.yoctoproject.org/git/yocto-kernel-tools
----------------
If the git client configuration is set as https url's instead of git prefix, git client change git:// to https://, but does not change the steel part of the path.
And they do not match.
This git configuration is needed if the client is behind a proxy server.
And this causes an error when downloading the repository.</thetext>

<thetext>The last change to the git web configuration was on 2016-06-10. The last update to the software was in January and shouldn't have changed functionality.

I grepped the last year of server logs for https://git.yoctoproject.org/ and I find 936 lines with "GET /yocto-kernel-tools". All of them are response code 404: file not found.

I grepped for successful https clones of yocto-kernel-tools and there are 624 of them that all look like - - [02/Mar/2017:08:27:30 -0800] "GET /git/yocto-kernel-tools.git/info/refs?service=git-upload-pack HTTP/1.1" 200 1051 "-" "git/2.9.3"

I'm not sure what was happening but it doesn't appear that https://git.yoctoproject.org/yocto-kernel-tools has ever been successfully cloned.

If we need clones of that path to work I can look into new configuration to allow it.</thetext>

<thetext>We have two versions of the assembly of our image.
Sliding night assembly and fixed.
After April 30, the sliding assembly stopped assembling.
The fixed version has a date one week earlier.
In the recipe itself, we did not find any changes.
We suspect that this is the first mistake of the kind, after which our assembly collapses.</thetext>

<thetext>As far as I can tell:

a) The recipe has the correct url
b) The urls listed on the webpage are correct and work

This does mean you can't just swap git:// and https:// and have the urls work but that isn't expected or documented to work.</thetext>
