<thetext>Currently there is to run "$bitbake <image> -c populate_sdk_ext" but does not specify the use of shared states, hence a new test case is needed to execute this test but using SSTATES.

Please create the test casea and add it to the eSDK test suite.</thetext>

<thetext>i would broaden this to have a build of <something large like sato-dev>,with sdk and esdk all being built from sstate.

furthermore, it's crucial that the build path for the sstate used and the build path for this test be different.</thetext>

<thetext>Its also crucial the paths are different *and* the original build path is no longer present and has been deleted.</thetext>

<thetext>As this is very similar to bug #11500, for which I've already implemented a new buildstep to remove files, I've gone ahead and begun implementation.

Essentially we need to add extra buildsteps on end of an existing buildset (i.e. nightly-qa-extras) which deletes tmp, then builds an eSDK in a different TMPDIR.</thetext>

<thetext>Some buildsteps to run this test have now been enabled on the Yocto Autobuilder:

http://git.yoctoproject.org/clean/cgit.cgi/yocto-autobuilder/commit/?id=5d80b30d55c134aeca63643b4ef3611a1845c6d1

However this isn't complete because the way to ensure that shared state objects are used it to generate a locked signature file and use that when running the build. However, as reported in bug #11623, when auto.conf includes a relative path to the generated locked-sigs.inc this value is propagated to the simulated eSDK environment where bitbake is run during eSDK generation, but the file isn't and its absence causes a build error like:

ERROR: core-image-sato-1.0-r0 do_populate_sdk_ext: Failed to generate filtered task list for extensible SDK:

### Shell environment set up for builds. ###

You can now run 'bitbake <target>'

Common targets are:
    core-image-minimal
    core-image-sato
    meta-toolchain
    meta-ide-support

You can also run generated qemu images with a command like 'runqemu qemux86'
ERROR: bitbake failed:

<thetext>This is blocked on the locked-sigs bug, which has moved target milestone again. I'm assigning this issue to Paul so that he can track the dependency and disposition this issue to an appropriate implementer once the dependency bug is resolved.</thetext>
