Specifically it includes entries like (iputils-ping, libegl1-mesa libsdl1.2-dev and mesa-common-dev) which are likely related to running qemu, a process that is not required to build and use the Yocto project. xterm is also not required for building anymore as well[2]. Finally python3-distutils should be added as per insane check[3].
