<thetext>Would like a way to detect if the build system is limiting downloads to do_fetch. Then add some sort of banner before, during, after? the summary at the top of the log to make it clear that downloads are (or are not) blocked in a particular build.

This will help both diagnosing problems, informing people to adjust host configurations to enable the blocking, and help developers avoid non-do_fetch download problems with properly configured hosts.</thetext>

    <thetext>Restating:

When the build starts there should be a summary banner explaining if the mechanism for isolating the network access to only the do_fetch stage is functional or not.</thetext>

<thetext>Some progress in that yocto-check-layer complains now:
https://git.openembedded.org/openembedded-core/commit/?id=e95b3bd194e294412bc0419c9c74abfc2f37406f

but I expect that there is more to do...</thetext>

<thetext>Robert, do we already have a patch to add a banner warning?
If not, can you or someone on the team do that, please?</thetext>
