<thetext>To quote a user from irc "Snafflehog: RP__: I'm looking for where the documentation is on adding bbappends and kernel config fragments - I can't find it for the life in me! Could you point me to at least the correct piece of documentation as they all seem to step on each others toes!"

I looked at the manuals and he's right. Nowhere is there any example about what a .bbappend file might contain. Searching for information about kerne; config fragments, again I can't find any example in the manual. We need to do better!</thetext>

<thetext>I am creating a new chapter in the YP Dev manual entitled "Common Tasks". This chapter is going to eventually contain usage information that is currently in the YP Reference Manual. To address this bug I will have sections that describe isolated examples for creating a .bbappend file and a configuration fragment.</thetext>

<thetext>Created a new section called "Understanding and Using Layers" in the YP Development manual. Inside the section is another section called "Using .bbappend Files." This section, along with several other edit passes through the manual should provide information on how to use a .bbappend file.

To see how .bbappend is treated throughout the dev manual, see the latest version at http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/latest/dev-manual/dev-manual.html.
