<thetext>Hi Tom,

The main issue here being that the zlib-qat-module recipe and openssl-qat-module recipe are generating the same kernel module name (qat_mem.ko) and we cannot have two kernel modules with the same name loaded at the same time.

I tried changing the kernel module name in the Makefile, for one of the recipe (openssl-qat-module), so that it generates the openssl_qat_mem.ko kernel module, but that triggered another build error while building the core-image-sato.

Computing transaction...error: Can't install openssl-qat-module-1.0.1-r0@crystalforest_server: no package provides kernel-module-openssl-qat-mem
|

I am thinking of changing the file names which generates the kernel module for openssl-qat-module or zlib-qat-module.

Since I only see this as a solution for this to be fixed.

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Thanks
Kishore.</thetext>

<thetext>Since we cannot have two kernel modules with the same name built into the package, I am thinking of building only one of the two recipes (openssl-qat-module or zlib-qat-module) and removing the other from building and having it document in the README to tell the users to include one which is needed.

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Thanks
Kishore.</thetext>

<thetext>These kernel modules are specific to Quick Assist Technology Drivers.
The owning Engineering division of these drivers had this.

Basically these kernel modules test the Memory Management for Quick Assist Technlogy drivers one with the openssl and the other one with zlib.</thetext>

And how are they used in practice, modprobe one, test, rmmod it, then modprobe the other, test, rmmod it?</thetext>

<thetext>Ok, well, I'm not sure why you're putting test programs in a standard image in the first place, but it sounds like overriding the package name for one of them might solve the immediate problem.</thetext>
