<thetext>The 3.10 kernel already has this fix in oe-core and meta-yocto-bsps.

commit 8babbd1e332a6d6cc7ba40ba6ac190114350310c
Author: Bruce Ashfield <bruce.ashfield@windriver.com>
Date:   Thu Nov 14 11:58:36 2013 -0500

    meta-yocto-bsp: update SRCREVs for 3.10.17 and beagleboard fixes

    Updating the BSP SRCREVs to pull in the 3.10.17 core update and fix
    USB powerup issues on the beagleboard.

    (From meta-yocto rev: d82870a9561662919a737dd126a8d26e2b78144a)

    Signed-off-by: Bruce Ashfield <bruce.ashfield@windriver.com>
    Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <richard.purdie@linuxfoundation.org>

So meta-intel needs to update it's SRCREVs appropriately as well.</thetext>

    <thetext>We have two options here:

1) Fix all BSPs that fail building this. For meta-intel, this includes:

$ git grep 2927821e14523fa0ee18140aa7ff6e0509b48ab7 | sed -e "s/.*://" | sed -e "s/ .*//"
SRCREV_machine_chiefriver
SRCREV_machine_crownbay
SRCREV_machine_crownbay-noemgd
SRCREV_machine_emenlow
SRCREV_machine_emenlow-noemgd
SRCREV_machine_fri2
SRCREV_machine_fri2-noemgd
SRCREV_machine_jasperforest
SRCREV_machine_nuc
SRCREV_machine_sugarbay
SRCREV_machine_sys940x
SRCREV_machine_sys940x-noemgd

Nearly every BSP - and those that aren't listed are still likely affected, they just have different machine branch HEADs.

2) Revert the commit to the stable dora branch that introduced the bug:

$ git l dora-10.0.0.. -- recipes-kernel/lttng
50574e4 lttng-modules: Update to 2.3.3 version

This update was made, in part, to fix a build issue with Linux 3.12 - which we don't ship with dora.

Typically I would argue for #2. However, the commits are available to fix this in the 3.10 kernel repo, but it would require modifying every BSP in meta-intel. More work may be required for the BSPs with different HEADs. depending on whether or not the required commit was already merged for them (likely has been).

However, it is my strong belief that the lttng_modules patch should never have been applied to dora.</thetext>
