<thetext>Related to #629 and #628.

bitbake in 1.0 uses multiprocessing module, which should be part of stock 2.6 python installs. However, the way that python-native is packaged, the multiprocessing module will not be included in the tarball.

End effect is that bitbake in 1.0 cannot be used with the python-native tarball at all.

The public python-native tarball should probably be also updated at some point (see https://lists.yoctoproject.org/pipermail/yocto/2010-December/000447.html , the URL should probably stay the same, since this email is the only current place where using python-native tarball is documented).</thetext>

<thetext>This bug refers to the Python generated by the external-python-tarball recipe.
The tarball doesn't currently include the multiprocessing module which is now required to run BitBake.

A fix is in master to add the multiprocessing package to the tarball: http://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/poky/commit/?id=a17dc8b66d40c937beb363872b3a6af31232f7ff

We need to update the hosted tarball and then document its presence.</thetext>

<thetext>I have made changes to both the Yocto Project Quick Start and the Poky Reference Manual regarding the Python 2.6 requirement of BitBake (BUGID# 628). Part of my fix was referencing the 32 and 64-bit tarballs for Python 2.6. Have these tarballs been rebuilt?</thetext>

<thetext>I've uploaded the latest python-native from bernard to the download site and the mirror. A few notes:

http://mirrors.kernel.org/yocto/miscsupport/

I've left the old versions of python-native up and moved them to:

http://mirrors.kernel.org/yocto/miscsupport/yocto-0.9-python-nativesdk/

The new versions are in the top level and in:

http://mirrors.kernel.org/yocto/miscsupport/yocto-1.0-python-nativesdk/

These were build using the bernard tag. Please leave this bug open for the time being so I can use it as a way to track this issue for upcoming release scripts.</thetext>
