<thetext>Liping and I happened to find such an issue when bitbaking the following recipe:

adt-installer_svn.bb:

LICENSE = "MIT"
PV = "0.1.8+svnr${SRCPV}"
PR = "r0"
#SRC_URI = "http://opkg.googlecode.com/files/opkg-0.1.8.tar.gz \
SRC_URI = "#svn://opkg.googlecode.com/svn;module=trunk;proto=http"

$ bitbake adt-installer
Loading cache: 100% |#############################################################################################################################################| ETA:  00:00:00
Loaded 971 entries from dependency cache.
ERROR: Error parsing /osel/dcui/110304/p1/meta/recipes-kernel/oprofile/adt-installer_svn.bb: Failure expanding variable SRCPV, expression was ${@bb.fetch2.get_srcrev(d)} which triggered exception FetchError: Fetcher failure for URL: 'None'. SRCREV was used yet no valid SCM was found in SRC_URI

Removing the trailing backslash of the commened SRC_URI line can resolve the ERROR, but we think this might be a parsing issue of bitbake we should fix?</thetext>

    <thetext>A backslash at the end of the line denotes a multi line. In this case bitbake parsed it as a multiline comment which was arguably the correct thing to do. This is a recent change in behavior to do with comment handling but it is consistent and behaving as intended.</thetext>

VERIFY the bug: NOTABUG.</thetext>
