I notice the keys on the OSD keyboard highlights as I moved the mouse around, and it works on the other widgets as well. This bug looks related: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/508697 But disabling modeset caused X not to start. I tried adding: Option "SWCursor" to the device stanza in xorg.conf, but that didn't work either.
