<thetext>Hi,

This might be one of those variables that is documented only in the BitBake User Manual. That manual has a glossary section similar to the YP Reference Manual. BB_CURRENTTASK is currently documented in the BitBake Manual. Do we want this in the YP Reference Manual?

Added Paul Eggleton to the list as he has been the one to pretty much clarify these issues.

Thanks,
Scott</thetext>

<thetext>The question is do people who read the main reference manual need to know about all the variables bitbake intrinsically supports? I had assumed that putting the less commonly used ones in the BitBake manual only would be sufficient - some of them are frankly pretty esoteric. BB_CURRENTTASK isn't something that most people writing metadata for the system will need to use, and if they do the BB_ prefix is a subtle hint that it's a variable that BitBake itself knows about.

If you want to duplicate all of them in the reference manual then BB_CURRENTTASK is not the only one you will need to copy over.</thetext>

<thetext>So, better leave the reference manual without this entry. Closing as not a bug.</thetext>
