However, the search is not anchored to the beginning of a line, so the search will find the var name in a comment and replace the comment with the new string. E.g., in the poky bblayers.conf file, the first three lines look like: # POKY_BBLAYERS_CONF_VERSION is increased each time build/conf/bblayers.conf # changes incompatibly POKY_BBLAYERS_CONF_VERSION = "1" If sanity_conf_update() is called to change the version to "2", the result will be: POKY_BBLAYERS_CONF_VERSION = "2" # changes incompatibly POKY_BBLAYERS_CONF_VERSION = "1" which is certainly not the expected result.
