Description Jair Gonzalez 2016-11-07 23:08:41 UTC
STATUS: FAILED
BUILD: meta-intel-6.0 : 6c9f6b5f70ab3ee194b2c2c6f3bd462c994848fa
ENVIRONMENT: corei7-64 on Joule
BIOS version: GTTP_CO_IFWI_X64_R_2016_10_23_1742_PROD
              GTPP150A.X64.0143.B30.1610240038

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

1. Attach a SD Card to the DUT with the image to test.
2. Connect the DUT to a video screen monitor and a keyboard.
3. Power on the DUT.
4. When the corresponding message appears on screen, press <F2> to enter BIOS Setup.
5. Select the 'Boot Manager' option in the menu and press <ENTER>.
6. In the 'Boot Option Menu', select 'EFI uSD Device' and press <ENTER>.

EXPECTED OUTCOME:

The DUT boots without errors.

ACTUAL OUTCOME:

The boot process fails with error message:

   Boot Failed. EFI uSD Device
   Press any key to continue...

and immediately returns to the DUT's BIOS Setup main screen.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

- The option to boot from an 'EFI USB Device' with the same environment and analogous steps works as expected.

- It's possible to boot from the SD Card by executing the following commands from the EFI Shell prompt:

Shell> FS0: //Where FS0 is the SD Card partition mapping

FS0:\> EFI\BOOT\bootx64.efi

Comment 2 Saul Wold 2016-11-08 15:37:08 UTC
How is the SD card imaged? Using the .hddimg or .wic image?
Comment 3 Jair Gonzalez 2016-11-08 15:45:16 UTC
Saul:

The SD Card was flashed using dd and the .hddimg image. I also tested afterwards with core-image-lsb-sdk-intel-corei7-64.hddimg and the same behavior occurs with the SD Card, but not the USB stick.
Comment 4 Jair Gonzalez 2016-11-08 17:08:38 UTC
The issue is also reproducible with a SD card containing a core-image-sato-sdk-intel-corei7-64.wic image.
Comment 5 Jair Gonzalez 2016-11-15 02:11:41 UTC
The issue also occurs with the following BIOS version and configuration:

Comment 7 Saul Wold 2016-11-17 05:24:19 UTC
There is a known issue with the Joule BIOS, regarding auto-start from SD card, an issue has been filed with that team.
