Description Paul Eggleton 2016-11-16 21:45:50 UTC
If a patch against meta-oe is sent incorrectly to the OE-Core mailing list and it is only adding files, it will apply cleanly on top of OE-Core since it doesn't matter that there isn't already an existing meta-oe subdirectory. It would be useful if we had a test to catch these kinds of patches, but if the email subject doesn't contain the layer name (which is sometimes omitted by the submitter) then the only way it could work would be if it looked for subdirectories from common layers such as "meta-oe". The suggested fix should specify to resend to the correct mailing list, specifying the actual mailing list based on subdirectory.

We'd want an easy way for these tests to be reconfigured of course so that the same set of tests can be easily applied e.g. for meta-oe when the time comes to do that - there we would of course be wanting to check for patches against a "meta" subdirectory. Perhaps we'd need to have a config option somewhere to accomplish this.
