If you generate a recipe with devtool using a raw git repo without specifying a tag at "Devtool add" time you can't then change the name of the recipe nor update SRC_URI after the fact. The only way to do this is to start over again by specifying the tag when you do the add.

It would be nice to be able to transition a git/HEAD recipe to a tag, or branch version of the recipe without starting over.

So in master for the upcoming release, devtool does have a rename subcommand that lets you change the name and/or version portion of the filename, updating any references to these. It won't set branch= or SRCREV but those you can set in the recipe after the fact without any adverse effects.

Does that meet with your expectations?

Excellent. That's all I was hoping for anyways. :)
