Description Paul Eggleton 2017-03-21 04:08:34 UTC
Add the ability for a user with an account to opt-in to receive email notification when an error / warning occurs when parsing a layer, mostly for maintainers. We'd probably do this at the end of the update process. This would build on the recently added "layer updates" feature.

We'd probably also want a check to see if errors have occurred for almost all layers, in which case we would skip individual notifications and send one to an administrator since there's probably a more serious underlying issue (a bug or misconfiguration).

An example of a "systemic" warning is when the following in conf/local.conf is enabled:
#require conf/distro/include/maintainers.inc

and the version of openembedded-core is new enough to include:
https://git.yoctoproject.org/poky/tree/meta/conf/distro/defaultsetup.conf
with:
include conf/distro/include/maintainers.inc

This basically only happened if rrs was enabled, but was a non-obvious thing to track down. And layers.openembedded.org _does_ have rrs enabled.

Emailing every layer maintainer or opt-in about those warnings would have been spam to be certain.

Still valid.
