Description Juro Bystricky 2017-05-24 21:13:44 UTC
As reported by AB on several occasions:

https://autobuilder.yocto.io/builders/nightly-checkuri/builds/266/steps/BuildImages/logs/stdio

Yet when I manually tried a few times to download the link http://download.gna.org/cryptodev-linux/cryptodev-linux-1.8.tar.gz I had no problems.

Yeah, best practise is to ignore checkuri failures if they can't be replicated unless they happen all the time on the AB (for example, if the autobuilder IP has been blacklisted). There's too many transient network failures that the checkuri run exposes.

(we need to expose more details from the failed fetch, but that's another bug)
Comment 3 Ross Burton 2017-05-24 22:14:18 UTC
My wget of that URL is hanging, and http://isitdownorjust.me/download-gna-org/ suggests that the site is down. Maybe you've a caching proxy?

Okay so lets leave this open overnight to see if the site appears again. If it doesn't then we get to find out where the new upstream is, or if it just died (like directfb.org did).
Comment 4 Ross Burton 2017-05-24 22:15:33 UTC
For reference http://cryptodev-linux.org/download.html still lists download.gna.org as a canonical download site, and the alternative http://nwl.cc/pub/cryptodev-linux/ is still up.
Comment 5 Ross Burton 2017-05-24 22:17:49 UTC
Oh.

"In November 2016, the Gna! project announced it would soon be closing down, and explained "soon" to mean "within 3 months [of February 2017], or when the hardware dies."

Time to update the SRC_URI in master and backport to pyro/morty/krogoth/etc.
