Michael, We had a lot of jacking around with these host packages during the 2.3 work. The list of packages for the distros differs between the Morty and Pyro releases. Here is Debian/Ubuntu for 2.2.1 (http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.2.1/yocto-project-qs/yocto-project-qs.html#packages) $ sudo apt-get install gawk wget git-core diffstat unzip texinfo gcc-multilib \ build-essential chrpath socat cpio python python3 pip3 pexpect Here is Debian/Ubunto for 2.3 (http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.3/yocto-project-qs/yocto-project-qs.html#packages) $ sudo apt-get install gawk wget git-core diffstat unzip texinfo gcc-multilib \ build-essential chrpath socat cpio python python3 python3-pip \ python3-pexpect xz-utils debianutils iputils-ping libsdl1.2-dev xterm Should I simply make 2.2.1 (Morty) version of the YP Quick Start be the same as it has settled out for the 2.3 (Pyro) release? Here is the bug that was active during 2.3 that changed this required packages stuff: https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11310. I am adding people to the list that were on Bug 11310. Thanks, Scott Set days to 1.0 I still need some clarification on this. I am putting it to NEEDINFO Scott It looks like 2.3 adds "xz-utils debianutils iputils-ping" as well as fixing the pip and pexpect package names for Debian and Ubuntu. If those aren't needed for 2.2.x we probably shouldn't add them. I think just fixing the package names is enough. Michael, See http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.2.2/yocto-project-qs/yocto-project-qs.html#packages for the Morty top-of-branch fix (for 2.2.2). Note that I made the same changes for the other distros. Usually these follow suit across distros. I can pull the 2.2.1 version and specifically make the manual set for that also. Let me know. Scott Michael, I checked out the commit for the top of the 2.2.1 release in yocto-docs, fixed and republished the manuals without pushing a commit. So, the HTML versions of the 2.2.1 and the 2.2.2 manuals have the fix here for "pip3" and "pexpect". Scott Marking closed as it has been over a month with no feedback. Scott |
This command under Ubuntu and Debian fails because there are no packages named pip3 or pexpect. $ sudo apt-get install gawk wget git-core diffstat unzip texinfo gcc-multilib \ build-essential chrpath socat cpio python python3 pip3 pexpect libsdl1.2-dev xterm To correct it I changed: pip3 to python3-pip pexpect to python-pexpect python3-pexpect
