Issue found on lttng-modules do_fetch where the patch file is not found.
Issue first found on pyro branch and further tested on master is failing too.

Build configuration:
Poky & meta-intel on pyro branch.
conf/local.conf: PREFERRED_PROVIDER_virtual/kernel ?= "linux-intel-rt"

We also hit do_compile failure using the build configuration below:
Poky & meta-intel on pyro branch.
conf/local.conf: PREFERRED_PROVIDER_virtual/kernel ?= "linux-intel"

(See attachment for do_compile log)

Default configuration with linux-yocto has no issue.
Require backport to pyro.

Comment 4 California Sullivan 2017-11-13 17:44:34 UTC
I believe Saul sent some patches addressing this. I will verify.
Comment 5 California Sullivan 2017-11-22 22:46:43 UTC
Current pyro HEAD works for me. Saul's patches appear to have solved the issue.
Comment 6 California Sullivan 2017-11-22 23:08:23 UTC
Actually, I see another issue, and Saul's patches do not address it.

What is happening in your case is that you're using qemux86 MACHINE, and lttng-modules is only patched in the case of an intel-* machine being used in order to maintain Yocto Project compatibility status, which causes this failure.

I'll have a discussion with Saul and others on how to fix this issue, if appropriate.
Comment 7 California Sullivan 2017-11-28 22:12:20 UTC
After discussion with Saul it was decided that it wasn't appropriate to build linux-intel with a qemux86 MACHINE.

We actually attempted to limit it previously through our COMPATIBLE_MACHINE flags, but we missed setting the default in the case that a non-intel MACHINE was set, causing it to build anyway.

I sent a patch addressing this here: https://lists.yoctoproject.org/pipermail/meta-intel/2017-November/005102.html
