Description Changqing Li 2018-10-11 06:32:11 UTC
1. currently, we use update_rc.d from this link:https://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/update-rc.d/log/

I think it is originally get from https://github.com/philb/update-rc.d.

with this version of update-rc.d, we can disable service by command
"update-rc.d -f service_name remove"

but it will not work after upgrade package.
refer this link:
http://positon.org/disable-a-service-with-update-rcd-under-debian-update-resistant

so maybe we also need an enhancement to do this.

2. from yocto doc, https://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.4.2/ref-manual/ref-manual.html#var-INITSCRIPT_PARAMS

it linked man page of http://www.tin.org/bin/man.cgi?section=8&topic=update-rc.d, but actually, we don't use same update-rc.d with Debian GNU/Linux's update-rc.d. This should be aglined.

3. current update-rc.d writed use shell, update-rc.d from Debian writed use perl.

PS: I have not test function of update-rc.d fully, specially the link mentioned
after upgrade. I can only check them when have time. here first raise this
    request.

FWIW we do not want to add a perl dependency into this core part of the system.
