Description Daniel Nielsen 2019-01-30 10:13:00 UTC
The D Language Front-End was Merged Into GCC 9.

We request that the gcc recipe enables support for D starting with the release which will contain GCC 9.
Comment 1 Khem Raj 2019-01-30 15:44:29 UTC
We will get gcc9 in 2.8 timeframe, its likely we might get it in 2.7 as a secondary compiler if release happens in time.
Comment 2 Ross Burton 2019-01-31 15:54:12 UTC
Daniel, as you obviously care about D, would you be willing to enable the support once GCC 9 is integrated?
Comment 3 Daniel Nielsen 2019-02-01 12:03:02 UTC
If you have any questions related to D I'm more than happy to help, but unfortunately adding D support to OE-Core is far beyond my ability.
Comment 4 Ross Burton 2019-02-01 12:07:00 UTC
Assuming it is integrated like the other languages, I suspect you think is more complicated than it really is. The GCC recipe has this line in:

LANGUAGES ?= "c,c++${FORTRAN}${JAVA}"

Just adding "dlang" or whatever the name is will build it, then you just need to ensure the packaging works.
Comment 5 Daniel Nielsen 2019-02-01 12:24:39 UTC
That sounds seductively simple. I suppose that I can give it a try, if something unexpected occurs, I probably have to ask for help anyway, so I'm not sure that I'm really contributing much. However I don't mind trying if you prefer that I do it.
Comment 6 Randy MacLeod 2025-01-16 16:21:58 UTC
There doesn't seem to be much interest in this D lang so resolving.
If anyone does want to submit a patch, the project is open to the idea.
