This was fixed with https://git.openembedded.org/openembedded-core/commit/?id=7adf9707c04d8ef6bcd8d8bda555687f705e6ee6

however, it caused a new problem when local.conf or auto.conf contains

BUILDHISTORY_COMMIT_AUTHOR ?= "Khem Raj <raj.khem@gmail.com>"

then it confuses, <> as JSON tokens and as a result when send-error-report is called it does not upload the error report and spits out

I can still see the problem.

After enabling error report in local.conf

Add

BUILDHISTORY_COMMIT_AUTHOR ?= "Joe <joe@joe.joe" to conf/local.conf

build a package which fails in some task

Try to upload the resulting error report

% send-error-report /mnt/b/yoe/master/build/tmp/log/error-report/error_report_20210320152535.txt

Update from Changqing via email:

There are 3 parts for this defect:

1. oe-core: report-error.bbclass support local.conf
-> merged in YP and WR

https://git.openembedded.org/openembedded-core/commit/meta/classes?id=a5afd7b1857c0012ab6e3d8bbafa67a96ff9e9e0 merged

2. error-report-web: fix XSS issue
-> merged in YP, and I will cherry-pick it to WR and verify if it works.

https://git.yoctoproject.org/error-report-web/commit/?id=acae5a6e2c4ceac94736af668397daafd98afdbe

3. error-report-web: support display local.conf and auto.conf in error-report-web

-> merged in WR, and I need to resend patch to YP.

So, I think we still need this bug open, and I will update the status after all the work all done.

Bulk move from 4.99 or 0.00 to 5.99
Comment 7 Changqing Li 2026-05-15 08:42:15 UTC
oe recently add another default configuration file toolcfg.conf,
update title to cover 4 default configuration files:
local.conf auto.conf site.conf toolcfg.conf.
