Description jonathan.yong 2019-08-23 02:05:01 UTC
Due to requirements, we need to use grub as our bootloader to load the kernel off the EXT4 root partition.

We are currently searching for the partition by filesystem label, as grub does not support GPT PARTUUID/PARTLABEL IDs.

This works fine on EXT4, but unfortunately, filesystems like squashfs do not have labels or UUIDs, and presents a problem if we are to move to it.

Grub-2.02 seems to be able to handle LVM PV and LV partitions by name fine.

As far as exploration goes, the lvm userspace tools requires root privileges to work, and might not even be practical for Yocto.

Build move to 5.0 -- ../Randy
Comment 3 Randy MacLeod 2024-04-25 01:13:51 UTC
Bulk move of 5.0 medium importance issues to 5.99.
Move to 5.1 if you want to actively work on an issue.
Comment 4 Randy MacLeod 2024-04-25 01:23:14 UTC
Move to 5.99 since no one is actively working on this issue.
Move to 5.x if you start on a task, please.
