Seems like any package in DUMMYPROVIDES_PACKAGES (in target-sdk-provides-dummy) can trigger the error. For experiment purpose, with rpm i added IMAGE_INSTALL_append = " coreutils vim " log looks like dnf "ignored" coreutils without warning/error. i wonder is this the expected behaviour? To reproduce on either master or dunfell: 1. Add the following to default local.conf: PACKAGE_CLASSES = "package_deb" IMAGE_INSTALL_append = " bash coreutils" 2. bitbake core-image-base -c populate_sdk Result is the following error: Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: target-sdk-provides-dummy : Conflicts: bash Conflicts: coreutils E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. Using either package_rpm or package_ipk will not trigger the error. And of course removing bash and coreutils also eliminates the error.
