I'm not sure it makes sense to compile qemu for x32? In our normal use cases we don't use qemu on target (and I'm not sure the target recipe even works for other architectures).

What is wrong with zlib build?  I can build x32 zlib without any changes.
I just pass CC="gcc -mx32" and configure it as x86-64-linux:

+ CFLAGS='-O2 -g -mx32'
+ ./configure --libdir=/usr/libx32 --includedir=/usr/include --prefix=/usr

zlib recipe is building fine under x32, 

I think the qemu issue is a line before in the error log:

"big/little test failed"

Isn't qemu a native application to run x32 image? I don't think
we need x32 qemu binary unless we have an x32 host machine.

This will not be fixed, as of now the target qemu binary is not needed for x32.
