Description Chee Yang 2020-12-28 01:28:15 UTC
unable to boot genericx86-64 poky-altcfg using custom fsuuid ESP on hardware(NUC), but wic image is able to boot on qemu.

local.conf:
DISTRO = "poky-altcfg"
WKS_file = "custom.wks"
MACHINE = "genericx86-64"

custom.wks :
part /boot --source bootimg-efi --fsuuid 1a2b3c4d --sourceparams="loader=systemd-boot" --ondisk sda --label msdos --active --align 1024 --use-uuid
part / --source rootfs --ondisk sda --fstype=ext4 --label platform --align 1024 --use-uuid
part swap --ondisk sda --size 44 --label swap1 --fstype=swap --use-uuid
bootloader --ptable gpt --timeout=5 --append="rootwait rootfstype=ext4 console=ttyS0,115200 console=tty0"
Comment 1 Chee Yang 2020-12-28 02:46:41 UTC
able to boot after changing the fsuuid to 0x1A2B3C4D

amendment: boot issue can reproduce in qemu too
Comment 2 Chee Yang 2021-01-06 09:13:17 UTC
so it is due to fstab not updated properly on certain fsuuid. This commit should have fixed it https://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/poky/commit/?id=3fa6a47aeb24dacf3f3b5cb4d7bad763619baf54
