Description Richard Purdie 2011-10-03 05:52:39 UTC
The current feedback to users when errors occur is poor, for example showing a python back trace if often inappropriate and distracts users from the real underlying error.

This bug is about improving the usability of the system by giving clearer feedback to users.

Several existing use cases have already been identified by Scott and these will be depended upon by this bug. Part of this task is also to identify other ways in which the usability of the system can be improved and feature enhancements can be opened against this bug to track these.
Comment 1 Scott Garman 2011-10-21 13:06:36 UTC
The schedule estimate for this bug represents some front-loaded work that needs to be done before many of the dependent bugs can be fixed (e.g, analysis and refactoring of the exception handling system within BitBake).
Comment 2 Jiajun Xu 2011-12-26 18:27:18 UTC
There is no QA needed for the bug. QA will follow these detailed bugs and test them.
Comment 3 Richard Purdie 2012-03-29 18:50:18 UTC
All bugs depending on this one have now been resolved.
