Description Richard Purdie 2011-10-03 06:38:04 UTC

We'd like to start adding the sstate signature to the stampfiles using the BasicHash signature generator and stop bumping PR values. This will require some additions to the PR server work we previously started and then BasicHash can become the default with no need to increment PR values continually. This will also give more visibility into the sstate hashes and enable any issues there to be more clearly identified.

Patch being review

Same patch with different commit id:

Revise the patch to make the basichash the default signature generator for Yocto, not oe-core. Plan to be merged in 1.2M3.

Comment 4 Lianhao Lu 2012-01-16 03:49:17 UTC

Saul reported the gcc-related recipes not working if we switch to the basichash signature handler. This is because those recipes tried to use the same stamp file to allow multiple gcc-related recipes to share the same source directory. When using basic hash, the stamp files are no longer the same.

Created a new patch to fix the gcc part:
http://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/poky-contrib/commit/?h=llu/bug1555-gcc&id=2588490b8b8424c96da2824c604929baeb1c5c16

Comment 5 Lianhao Lu 2012-01-28 20:33:15 UTC

Rebase the patch to using the OEBasicHash

http://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit.cgi/poky-contrib/commit/?h=llu/bug1555&id=192859757f4130abe9bb26e9e1b9f67943da5e57

The gcc-related bugs is fixed by a bunch of commits RP created in both bitbake and metadata.

OEBasicHash has been the default signature handler in 1.2 M3 RC1 testing. Verify the bug as fixed.
