Description Joshua Lock - Disabled 2011-10-03 15:04:16 UTC
Enable defining patterns for finding images and also patterns for images not to show in the drop down.

Both of these enhancements will enable Hob users to customise which images are available in the drop down to base their custom image on.

Could you describe this issue in more detail? or give us a usage case?

Thanks!

The request came from the community and is really two related feature requests.

1) Is for people shipping Yocto to customers to be able to restrict the available images to only include ones they wish to support. For example to enable a layer but not display any of the images provided in that layer (i.e. blacklist demo-image-*)

2) Is to be able to define extra patterns by which images displayed in the image combo are determined.

Currently hob, and hob2, set the 'type' of a recipe to 'image' if it contains the substring "-image-"[1] - the second part of this bug is asking for some mechanism to add to/change the pattern we use to determine whether something is an image.

Postpone it to M3 because 2) mentioned by Josh needs more efforts.

Transfer to Belen. Belen, can you help to design where we should put the patterns to? In "settings"?
Comment 4 Belen Barros Pena 2012-01-16 03:08:27 UTC
Yes, I can help with this, but I will need a bit more information. Joshua: would you have time to arrange a call to walk me through this feature in detail?
Comment 5 Joshua Lock - Disabled 2012-01-18 15:37:15 UTC
I'm not convinced this is something we need to expose in the GUI - I'd think as this is a feature aimed at people distributing the GUI it's perfectly OK to expect them to be able to set this configuration in a file somewhere.

Belen, I'm happy to discuss this in real-time at your convenience.
Comment 6 Belen Barros Pena 2012-01-19 01:44:08 UTC
Hi guys,

It looks like the first decision we need to make is if this feature needs to be represented in the Hob UI. Shane: do you agree with Joshua that this could just be a configuration file?

Cheers

Belen
Comment 7 Shane Wang 2012-03-13 06:40:07 UTC
Configuration file is fine to me.
Comment 8 Richard Purdie 2012-03-15 11:58:28 UTC
I agree this information should come from a configuration file. Updating bug status from NEEDINFO since I think this is relatively well understood now and reassigning to shane since this isn't something Belen needs to look at.
Comment 9 Shane Wang 2012-03-27 11:54:45 UTC
Give it to Dongxiao because he has implemented an approach to detect whether a bb file is an image recipe without checking the file name.
