Description Ryan Eatmon 2025-06-10 19:33:13 UTC
The conditions for checking if a module RDEPENDS on a debug package is a little aggressive. Here is a case where a validly named kernel module is tripping this up:

ERROR: linux-bb.org-6.12.22+git-r0 do_package_qa: QA Issue: kernel-modules rdepends on kernel-module-g-dbgp-6.12.22-ti [debug-deps]

The check currently just looks to see if the package contains the string "-dbg".

insane.bbclass:835 if "-dbg" in rdepend and "debug-deps" not in skip:

Not sure the best way to fix this. Change it from a contains check to an ends with check maybe?

Another issue with the latest kernel:

ERROR: QA Issue: kernel-module-mtk-vcodec-dec-6.16.0-rc1-next-20250610-dirty rdepends on kernel-module-mtk-vcodec-dbgfs-6.16.0-rc1-next-20250610-dirty [debug-deps]

RP suggests looking at the python code to find out if we can "just depend on the end of the string" (make sure there are no other outcomes that would break).
