Looking at the source code for install-info (https://cgit.git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/texinfo.git/tree/install-info/install-info.c), this creates the 'dir' file in a temporary location then uses rename to move it to the final destination. That is similar to the behaviour of the postfix installed which has recently caused issues and led to proposed fixes in pseudo. Mark, do we think that the latest pseudo changes will resolve this? Rename and Renameat both had the same issue. master-next in the pseudo branch has a fix for both issue. @Paul Barker Can you check if master-next fixes this issue in any easy way? We only saw this issue once, so there is probably no easy way to test it. If we are fairly confident this is fixed, we can probably close this bug entry, I will re-open is it happens again. I'm going to be pushing the pseudo 1.9.7 version to master today. Once it's there, I think the issue is fixed. Pseudo update to 1.9.7 has landed in master branch. |
