While working on bug #15963, we discussed the status of the setscene task hard dependency handling in bitbake. These "hard dependencies" are used to ensure that setscene tasks do not run before the tools/libs needed to actually restore the sstate artifact are available. E.g. we need pseudo to restore the results of do_package.

The current code is difficult to reason about and counter-intuitively builds a reverse dependency map. It is not likely to work well if we have to add many more hard setscene dependencies or if the dependency tree gets complicated.

We should look in to overhauling this code.

Also relevant: bug #5839 asks for test cases for hard dependencies in setscene tasks.
