Description Pauli Heikkinen 2026-06-25 08:37:20 UTC
The Yocto 6.0 migration notes state:

> WIC related files such as WKS files or custom WIC plugins should be moved to the
> files/wic/ directory of the layer containing them.

...but that's not exactly true. While the WKS files should be moved, the wic plugins should not - they should be kept right where they have always been.

The development manual explains the correct location, but this sentence in the migration notes leads to confusion about which location is the right one for the plugins.

You're right, just to give an example here, meta-virtualization has:

files/wic
├── directdisk-bootloader-xen.cfg
├── directdisk-bootloader-xen.wks
├── directdisk-xen.wks
├── qemuboot-xen-x86-64.cfg
└── qemuboot-xen-x86-64.wks
scripts/lib/wic
└── plugins
    └── source
        └── bootimg_biosxen.py

I'll adjust the note, thanks!

...and the patch seems to have been applied. Thanks!
