I downloaded yocto 1.1 and followed steps in the quick start to create a new, minimal configuration:

$ sudo apt-get install many things
$ wget http://www.yoctoproject.org/downloads/poky/poky-edison-6.0.tar.bz2
$ tar xjf poky-edison-6.0.tar.bz2
$ cd poky-edison-6.0
$ . oe-init-build-env
$ hob

Then I selected machine qemux86-64 and only two packages:
- busybox
- udev

I ran Bake and some hours later the build ended with an error:

I fear this is an unfortunate by product of how builds are handled in the version of Hob shipped with Edison. It will be resolved with Hob v2 but is unlikely to be addressed before the next Yocto release.
