With 1.1.1 branch, cedartrail fails to build out during do_validate_branches for linux-yocto_3.0. The error does not happen with master branch.

cedartrail was not part of 1.1 and so shouldn't be part of 1.1.1 either.  I have an edison-1.1.1 branch in meta-intel that should be used for 1.1.1:

This is not a bug - the edison-1.1.1 branch of meta-intel should be used for 1.1.1 builds, as mentioned.
