crownbay with 1.2_m2 of both poky and meta-intel doesn't show any problems for me with the LVDS panel. Can you provide more information that might help me reproduce this e.g. the complete Xorg.conf and dmesg, along with what kind of display you're using. Created attachment 334 [details]
dmesg and X.0.log as requested
Also, Darren, apparently you're using master, so that would correspond to emgd-1.10, correct? i.e. you set LICENSE_FLAGS for emgd-1.10 in your local.conf? (In reply to comment #3) > Also, Darren, apparently you're using master, so that would correspond to > emgd-1.10, correct? i.e. you set LICENSE_FLAGS for emgd-1.10 in your > local.conf? LICENSE_FLAGS_WHITELIST = "license_emgd-driver-bin_1.10" My test is on the FRI2 over micro-HDMI, xorg.conf looks like the following: I wonder if the EdidNotAvail line should be applied to additional ports? crownbay Xorg.log and dmesg for good DVI display
I plugged in an SDVO ADD2-N card and a DVI monitor (with LVDS still plugged in) and didn't see any problems when booting sato - the display worked fine on the DVI monitor (and the text boot messages showed up on the LVDS). The "crownbay Xorg.log and dmesg for good DVI display" attachment shows the output. Will have to try tweaking the EDID settings to try and get something to fail. This issue is reproducible on my build. Detailed configuration information as follows:
meta-yocto = "master:d8b3718303c3d56394c722059f1a73bd79131d0a"
meta-intel = "master:1ca68394faf33416f2aabee27323da7510ad6609"
meta-fri2 = "master:1ca68394faf33416f2aabee27323da7510ad6609"
The dmesg posted by Autif contains tell-tale signs of a corrupt USB boot drive, which can definitely cause strange effects like this. He was also able to subsequently boot with a good display, so I suspect the good boot was with a new uncorrupted image. In any case, if anything like this appears in dmesg, it 'taints' the report. For the other failures in this report, please also post the dmesg log and the Xorg logs, thanks. attempt to access beyond end of device sda1: rw=0, want=4, limit=2 EXT3-fs (sda1): error: unable to read superblock attempt to access beyond end of device sda1: rw=0, want=4, limit=2 EXT2-fs (sda1): error: unable to read superblock EXT3-fs: barriers not enabled attempt to access beyond end of device sda1: rw=0, want=4, limit=2 MINIX-fs: unable to read superblock attempt to access beyond end of device sda1: rw=0, want=4, limit=2 EXT3-fs (sda1): error: unable to read superblock attempt to access beyond end of device sda1: rw=0, want=4, limit=2 EXT2-fs (sda1): error: unable to read superblock EXT3-fs (sda12): warning: maximal mount count reached, running e2fsck is recommended kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds attempt to access beyond end of device sda1: rw=0, want=66, limit=2 isofs_fill_super: bread failed, dev=sda1, iso_blknum=16, block=32 EXT3-fs (sda12): using internal journal EXT3-fs (sda12): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode attempt to access beyond end of device sda1: rw=0, want=4, limit=2 MINIX-fs: unable to read superblock I've been unable to produce this error with different edid-related settings. Failing that, I can only suggest things to try.
Basically the Edid option says to use the EDID information from the display if set, or if 0, don't use the EDID information. The EdidAvail option says what to do if EDID is enabled and an EDID value was read from the display. The EdidNotAvail option says what to do if either an EDID wasn't read or the Edid option disabled reading EDID (Edid == 0). The EdidAvail and EdidNotAvail settings encode what to do as a bitfield:
bit 0 - enable/disable built-in timings
bit 1 - enable/disable EDID timings
bit 2 - enable/disable DTD
So the below says "if edid not avail for any reason, only use the timings built-in to the EMGD driver". If it is available, use built-in timings or the EDID values or user-supplied DTD timings (from CED).
Option "ALL/1/Port/4/General/name" "lvds"
Option "ALL/1/Port/4/General/EdidAvail" "3"
Option "ALL/1/Port/4/General/EdidNotAvail" "1"
Option "ALL/1/Port/4/General/Rotation" "0"
Option "ALL/1/Port/4/General/Edid" "0"
Also, the settings for above only apply to port 4 (lvds). Since you're apparently expecting a display on port 3 or 2 (sdvo C port or sdvo B port), you should probably be supplying specific settings for those ports as well, e.g. repeat the above but changing the 4 to 2 or 3. Otherwise, you'll get the default settings, which are:
Edid 1
EdidAvail 3
EdidNotAvail 1
I'm unable to reproduce this on non-fri2 hardware, and don't have fri2 hardware. Please provide at minimum the Xorg and dmesg logs on the failing systems, or a way to reproduce this on non-fri2 hardware. Or try the suggestions mentioned previously and see if that fixes the problem. I don't want a high critical bug hanging around without any progress, and would like to resolve it or assign it to someone who has fri2 hardware. Xorg and dmesg logs on the fri2 failing system as follows: Xorg.0.log: [3183108.331] X.Org X Server 1.9.3 Release Date: 2010-12-13 [3183108.388] X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 [3183108.407] Build Operating System: Linux 3.2.2-1.fc16.x86_64 x86_64 [3183108.427] Current Operating System: Linux fri2 3.0.18-yocto-standard+ #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Feb 27 13:50:36 CST 2012 i686 [3183108.445] Kernel command line: initrd=/initrd LABEL=boot console=ttyS0,115200 console=tty0 video=vesafb vga=0x318 root=/dev/ram0 BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz [3183108.484] Build Date: 27 February 2012 02:23:30PM [3183108.504] [3183108.524] Current version of pixman: 0.24.2 [3183108.544] Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org to make sure that you have the latest version. The Meego bug report states that this problem shouldn't be seen if: Option "PcfVersion" "1792" Which I don't believe is the case, but have no xorg.conf to verify. Also what display is being used? Display is HP 2309p.

As of today with current poky/master and meta-intel/master: OE Build Configuration: BB_VERSION = "1.15.1" TARGET_ARCH = "i586" TARGET_OS = "linux" MACHINE = "fri2" DISTRO = "poky" DISTRO_VERSION = "1.1+snapshot-20120310" TUNE_FEATURES = "m32 core2" TARGET_FPU = "" meta meta-yocto = "master:7eb3440ac5152cba8940f6317df236bbc9aaef2f" meta-intel meta-fri2 = "master:d9132cc66316be45f44beeea6eba734bb3ab337d" meta-kernel-dev = "master:a521d099327773574e26701397a2c0bc6fd66fd2" The fri2 boots to a Sato desktop with the linux-yocto-3.0 kernel. Testing 3.2 now. As 3.2 doesn't have emgd-1.10 support yet, I can't test this. From what I can tell this bug can no longer be reproduced on fri2. If you want, you can try this branch: http://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/linux-yocto-2.6.37-contrib/log/?h=tzanussi/linux-yocto-3.2/emgd-1.10 It's emgd-1.10 for 3.2 and works fine for me, I just am not ready to push the 3.2 stuff yet, but this is what I'll be getting merged... This also works for me using the new emgd-1.10 branch on 3.2. I'll be pushing fri2 BSP changes shortly. I'm marking this as WORKSFORME (as I opened this bug specifically for the fri2. |
