In /opt/poky/1.1+snapshot,the environment file return back to environment-setup-ppc603e-poky-linux, and adt-installer script search environment-setup-powerpc*, so  i will reopen it.

the error happend on 1.2 M4 RC1 from:

when run "adt-installer" to install qemuppc toolchain,error met below:

There're two ways you can do installation: silent mode or interactive mode. To choose silent mode, which means you opt for the system to override the existing data under the specified installation directories without prompting for your confirmation. Please be cautious with this selection which may trigger your losing data. With the interactive mode, you have to closely monitor the installation process, since it will prompt you each step it needs to override some existing data. To choose silent mode, please enter [S], for interactive mode, please enter [I] or [X] to exit the installation.

ppc toolchain install failed.

Please see latest fix in comment #7. It should be included in RC2. You may tweak the script according to that fix to work around it in RC1.

thanks your confirmation, I have used that patch, it works and ppc toolchain can install successfully after that.

Verify the bug as fixed on 1.2_M4 rc2 with commit 27aa5489fb40d99c58bb2a4bbf2311e2c502a091,tree/branch: poky/1.2_M4

the error is not met on 1.2 M4 RC2 both on these hosts :opensuse 12.1 x86_64, fedora 16 i686,ubuntu 11.10 x86_64. PPC toolchain can be built successfully using ADT-installer from:
http://autobuilder.yoctoproject.org/pub/nightly/20120405-1/adt_installer/adt_installer.tar.bz2
