Sergey Lapin reported on the oe-core mailing list that the ncurses module does not work in python. 

To test this, build an image with python-ncurses in it, and run the interactive interpreter. "import curses" will result in an "ImportError: No module named _curses"

Reverting this commit works around the problem:

I'm almost ready with a fix for this.

This is now fixed in oe-core and poky master. A number of commits were needed to fully resolve this issue, this one is the final one that you'll need:
