With 1.2 M4 rc4, Package core-image-sato-sdk failed to do do_rootfs. File "/usr/bin/bash" does not exist

I have fixed couple of fedora 17 related issue in the contrib branch here:

I did not see the "bash not found" issue with the master branch.

This issue still exists on poky/poky-contrib master branch.

when i used poky-contrib tree to build core-image-sato-sdk image, the build will be blocked by bug 2278

Hi Nitin,
We are using Fedora 17 Alpha, are you using Fedora 17 Beta? We would like to install the latest version and have another try tomorrow.

Hi Nitin,
We find that on Fedora 17, there are 2 bash commands under /bin and /usr/bin. For quilt and eglibc-utils, they check the location of bash on host and find the /usr/bin/bash, which causes such failure with do_rootfs.

Could you check if you have /usr/bin/bash on your Fedora 17?

I am seeing both /bin/bash & /usr/bin/bash on fedora 17 alpha system. I am trying to reproduce the issue with the current master now.

I can reproduce the issue on fedora 17 with commit d4e265661517f8dd4e1648fdc56bac5973f986f6.
But,the error message compared with last time is different.

Old error message:

This time I tried building core-image-sato-sdk from scratch for qemuarm machine, and still I do not see the bash related failures.

yes,I know the reason. you change the commit. this issue may be fixed in latest version, but in the commit(d4e265661517f8dd4e1648fdc56bac5973f986f6), this issue exists on fedora 17 alpha

  My testing was with the commit: d4e265661517f8dd4e1648fdc56bac5973f986f6
So your last comment does not seem right to me. and in the remote debugging I was seeing some unexpected unrelated build issues.
  As discussed before this issue is assigned to you.

I build core-image-sato-sdk image failed on fedora17 with poky branch and commit 348da93e283b2b8454fd9cde80d4b17378e2a168. it caused by building gcc_4.7.
I think this issue "do_rootfs" is blocked by current gcc_4.7 build error.

gcc configure should have poked the target sysroot for presence of sys/sdt.h
and as it seems its finding that header when configuring but not when its compiling if the test was to be believed. Can you pastebin the log.do_configure
of gcc and config.log files somewhere ?

also find if sdt.h is present in your target sysroot or not

Since the bug is not for gcc-4.7 compile issue, pls. refer to bug 2545 for the gcc issue.

This is host contamination issue resulted from do_configure, which got finally populated through do_package into final do_rootfs.

Take quilt for example, in quilt's configure.ac, it defines a m4 macro QUILT_COMPAT_PROG_PATH to detect the bash. However, this m4 macro doesn't support cross compiling, so it checks the host bash, and give out the result of "/usr/bin/bash", because on Fedora 17 Alpha, there is a /usr/bin/bash installed on host.

This "/usr/bin/bash" goes into some quilt's own script and goes into the RPM file dependency. However, during do_rootfs, we assumes the bash in target is at /bin/bash, which is not consistent with the RPM file dependency. Here we met the problem.

we probably should use "env", just like we used to do with the python environment issue.
