The Video player is not installed in the system.
The package name is: owl-video.
Comment 1 Darren Hart 2012-07-31 16:51:56 UTC
Is owl-video supposed to be installed on every sato image?
Comment 2 Nitin Kamble 2012-08-01 09:02:43 UTC
I am finding in the the Sato GUI that, the icon to play video is present, and also on the command line the /usr/bin/video application is present. I always have used this built-in application for the video testing. And I have never tried the own-video.

Jiajun, Tom do you have anything to share here?

Thanks,
Nitin
Comment 3 Alexandru Georgescu 2012-08-01 11:26:42 UTC
Please note that the image I used is a NON SDK sato image.
the application is also not installed in the crownbay (NON SDK) sato image.

The strange thing is that the Music application is installed, but the Video not and I don't see the reason why it shouldn't be installed.

Regards,
Alex.

Alexandru Georgescu,
I am just checking core-image-sato image built for emenlow from latest master and I see the video app icon in the sato GUI.

  do you see /usr/bin/video executable?

I notice the owl-video is also coming form task-core-tools-testapps.bb

so I can see the video icon because I have this line in local.conf

EXTRA_IMAGE_FEATURES += "tools-testapps"

Either you need to build your own image with the above line in local.conf or use core-image-sato-sdk image for video testing.

Jiajun,
what was your BKM for these things ?

Hi all,
We used to only test sato-sdk images for most real hardware. In the test plan, we define which image profile will be validated for each hardware. Please have a check at https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Yocto_1.3_Overall_Test_Plan.
And you could also find a field named "image profile" for each test case in testlink, by indicating which image profile we should use.

Alex,
then you should not be testing core-image-sato images for this BSPs.
