Steps to reproduce:

1. Build an image with Hob
2. In the image details screen, click the "Build a new image" button

Outcome: Hob will run sanity checks before presenting the image configuration screen with no machine or base image selected

Is it necessary to re-run the sanity checks before showing the image configuration screen to the user?

I've tested this on the latest master (53cc748b93e8af584557d6db5309c3e955182c5c). The sanity check screen no longer comes up, but I've counted a delay of 12 seconds or so between clicking the 'Build a new image' button and being able to select a machine in the image configuration screen.

Do we know what causes the delay and if it could be reduced somehow?

It takes a long time because it has to load all the necessary information for building a new image. I don't think we can change this.
