I have a question on this bug. If I am not adding extra files to the mix, then wouldn't I not even have a FILESEXTRAPATHS statement in my .bbappend file?
Isn't the _prepend part of the statement just to make sure that it looks at my directories first? (e.g. ${THISDIR}/${PN} in this case).
I probably don't understand the bigger picture here ... so if someone can provide more explanation I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Scott
Updated the section to include more in the note for cases where an append file is not adding new files. See http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/1.4/dev-manual/dev-manual.html#using-bbappend-files for the text. I will close this in a few weeks if no response or adjustments are needed. Section 5.1.4 in Dev Manual talks about bbappend files and how to: FILESEXTRAPATHS_prepend := "${THISDIR}/${PN}:" which is fine except that a number of bbappend files simply exist to add build options (eg., systemd), so that section should make it clear that if you're not adding any extra files to the mix, you can leave off that prepend entirely. Is that correct?
