May set this higher priority if there is any interest in the FAQ This still needs to be done. These questions need to be ported over: https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/FAQ As of this date we are discontinuing new questions until the page is built out with actual FAQs. I'm not completely clear on the difference between the audience for the wiki and the audience for the web site. Will all FAQs be maintained in both locations? The FAQ has historically existed only on the wiki. Many people who browse the website only have not seen it and don't know it exists. In fact, many website visitors don't know the wiki exists or what it is. And frankly not many people see it on the wiki, as evidenced by the number of questions I get that are answered there. (This despite it being the top link when you google "yocto faq".) I believe the base information should be in both places, even if there ends up being specific information that only exists in one place. Just to complicate matters a little further I have been compiling this: https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Technical_FAQ I would note however that a number of folks in the community have been participating on Stackoverflow in the last couple of years and so we ought to be building up a body of questions & answers there. Having said that I do still see value in having our own curated FAQ that is a little more editable than the one in the manual - it is useful as a quick way to answer common questions on IRC if nothing else. Removing unused FAQ system, will redirect people to Stack Overflow and other social media as well as the new documentation we are creating. |
