With further experimentation I have found out that, it is not a audio playback issue, but issue with slow data access to the USB key via the USB hub. If I copy the audio file to /tmp and play from there, it plays fine. Suggest closing as not a bug then. hummm, now I have different data point. copying audio file to /tmp before playing worked fine for the fri2 bsp. But it did not work for the fri2-noemgd BSP. the audio playback was broken like before. BTW audio is by default playing from the HDMI port. Nitin, since emgd involves the HDMI, perhaps this explains the difference in the BSPs. Are you testing over HDMI or over the stereo jacks. I have reported flakiness in the HDMI audio in the FRI2 README. Darren, It is not really EMGD related. Now I am seeing the same playback issue with the EMGD bsp as well. So far I am using the default audio settings, which are pushing the audio through HDMI. if you think HDMI audio is broken, then may be that the alsa can be configured to avoid the HDMI audio. Hi Darren, I tested again while taking USB out of the picture. Booting from the SD card, and playing audio file from /tmp. And Still the audio playback is broken. So the issue is not related to USB. And the Broken Audio support also breaks Videos with Audio support. Nitin, OK, good data points. If you use alsamixer to disable HDMI audio and use the analog playback, does it work any better? I tried playing with the asound.conf of the FRI2 bsp. And the audio did not work well for any kind of configuration. Does using the kernel parameter "snd_hda_intel.enable_msi=0" resolve the issue? I have never tried this kernel option. and now my FRI2 does not work to check this out. commit 3cd1c31a9db21f9deb395c3929d8f9a16ef8e3f3 Author: Darren Hart <dvhart@linux.intel.com> Date: Tue Apr 23 14:32:19 2013 -0700 fri2: Disable MSI interrupts for the HDA device |
