The nice man from DPD said that our kernels don't build the intel_idle driver which is used to push the processor into deeper sleep states. This may be a "fixed in 1.4" or even "fixed in 1.3", but I thought filing it would be a good way to make sure we did fix this, as it has a significant impact on idle power usage.

Which kernels/BSPs are we talking about? CONFIG_INTEL_IDLE is configured in via features/power/intel.scc, which is included by most of the meta-intel BSPs.

linux-yocto-3.4/meta/cfg/kernel-cache/features/power/intel.cfg

# use the native intel cpuidle driver for recent Intel processors
CONFIG_INTEL_IDLE=y

From talking to Richard who spoke with the man who I can't remember, it's more likely that the real problem is that the driver doesn't have support for for platforms.

Resolved worksforme, as Richard asked the man who had the details to file the bug.
