When using systemd, pslash doesn't start or work.

Last I heard one of the blockers for this was that systemd only supported plymouth for showing a splash screen. I don't know if that's changed in recent times.

FWIW, a patch was sent to the mailing list a while ago that purports to make psplash work with systemd:

Not sure if this starts it early enough to be practical, but it might be better than nothing...

Khem Raj said his team has patches to integrate plymouth. And he said he would send them to the mailing list.

Mentor team has sent a patch of psplash systemd support to the mailing list. It's not accepted yet.

I'll keep an eye on this one. Mark the milestone to future as it seems that nobody on the mailing list care about this feature.

psplash now has systemd support.  Just need someone to upgrade psplash in oe-core!

Stefan Agner posted a patch a while ago 'psplash: add systemd support'.  I've added this to my queue (poky-contrib:ross/mut) but Matthew Zeng: if you want to test it that would be *much* appreciated.

Ross Burton: I tested Stefan's 'psplash: add systemd support' patch and confirm that this patch does fix the psplash problem with systemd. This can be merged now.

In Stefan's patch, he already upgraded psplash to a newer version but gave an explanation to why didn't he upgrade to the latest instead. https://patchwork.openembedded.org/patch/169342/ I did some small changes and tested that his patch also works with the latest version. Shall we upgrade psplash to the latest version too?
