Description Lianhao Lu 2010-10-12 20:17:40 UTC
Using the builds/milestone branch, and target poky-image-sdk, in the built rootfs, a python file libstdc++.so.6.0.14-gdb.py is mistakenly put in the directory "/usr/lib", which would cause the ldconfig command reporting the following error:

ldconfig: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6.0.14-gdb.py is not an ELF file - it has the wrong magic bytes at the start.

This message is only a warning and is not an error.

Upstream gcc also has the issue: http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=41816 -- looks peopoe there are not eager to fix it...

There are some discussions:
http://www.mail-archive.com/gcc@gcc.gnu.org/msg46226.html
http://www.mail-archive.com/shr-user@lists.shr-project.org/msg05313.html

Looks the proper fix we can make is "moving them either to the separate debug directory, or underneath gdb's datadir"(per the first one of the above 2 links).

Yes.

That is an expected warning. It is by design that the libstdc++.so.6.0.14-gdb.py file is installed in /usr/lib directory.
Comment 5 Lianhao Lu 2011-02-15 17:23:30 UTC
Verified. This only just prints a warning in ldconfig, it's not an error.
