Description Jeff Osier-Mixon 2013-04-25 00:26:47 UTC
this goes hand in hand with featuring blogs more prominently. we need to determine which modules can best support this so that we have good levels of control. Ideally I'd like to have one section for personal blogs and one for feeding headlines for sites like linuxgizmos.com, with the option to un-include some items if they aren't appropriate enough.

Lets collect a list of sites we want to pull from. We can feature articles from any site that has RSS or Atom feeds.
Comment 2 Melissa Anderson 2013-06-04 17:43:31 UTC
We discussed three feed-related features:

1) "Yocto in the news" (exact label TBD) - This aggregates linuxgizmos.com and the like, a generic headline feeder about topics related to yocto.

2) The "planet-style" where yocto users and contributors' non-yoctoproject.org blogs would be aggregated. This could include the whole blog, or we can document how to add a filterable category to an atom feed so that only tagged posts are aggregated.

3) Adding categories to the native yoctoproject.org blogs to differentiate kinds of entries - this could be structured or free-tag format. It would facilitate the kind of micro-blog entry described in 3950

Each of these can be approached separately.

I've added the free-tagging category to production. See 4612.

We can't get through all of the configuration work in this sprint, but the basic setup is available. While no where near done, it has enough data tmo work through the important questions, I think.

All new feeds, including Yocto Planet feeds, appear here.

TODO: Category mapping, node display
TODO: Verify settings to exclude items by unpublishing

https://www.yoctodev.org/tools-resources/planet

When adding a new feed, assign the category Yocto Planet in order to include feeds in this view.

TODO: mapping authorship? either abandon the node author and use a different display field or map to node author

Where will these fit into the menu structure? URL patterns and menu placement TBD.

I could use some help finding the correct feed for Dave's blog. http://software.intel.com/en-us/user/334967/feed looks like it should work, but it doesn't contain current blog posts.

I can find RSS feeds for comments on individual blog entries, but no overall feed by author.

I haven't heard anything about this for too long. I believe that this isn't really desired now.
