Description Bols Ewhac 2014-05-30 01:52:37 UTC
The bootscripts in the udev package run the command 'udevadm'. However, the udev recipe shunts 'udevadm' over to the package udev-utils, which is then placed in udev's RRECOMMENDS list. Thus, if you enable the build variable NO_RECOMMENDATIONS, udev-utils will not be installed (unless named explicitly), and the bootscripts, unable to find 'udevadm', will report errors:

INIT: version 2.88 booting
Starting udev
udevd[168]: starting version 182
/etc/rcS.d/S04udev: line 103: udevadm: command not found
/etc/rcS.d/S04udev: line 108: udevadm: command not found
/etc/rcS.d/S04udev: line 109: udevadm: command not found

There's a patch from David on the mailing list to add udev-utils to RDEPENDS of udev.

I think it's an appropriate fix.

The udevadm should really be part of the core udev package since it's really integral to booting with udev.
