The archiver should offer the possibility to filter on the recipe. At the moment only the license filter is available.

Use-case:

A build server builds the image, providing rpm packages. A user can download the vmlinux image (with debug symbols) and then needs access to the source which was compiled to use a external debugger such as TRACE32 or similar hardware.

For reference would require a simple extension to meta/classes/copyleft_filter.bbclass.

The implementation will be in copyleft_filter.bbclass as advised by Paul, it won't take a lot of lines.

Patch has been ACK by Paul Eggleton but hasn't been applied to master. Moving to 1.9M2

Steps to verify:

1. Add to local.conf
MACHINE = "genericx86-64"
# Archiver
INHERIT += "archiver"
ARCHIVER_MODE[src] = "original"
COPYLEFT_PN_INCLUDE = "busybox"
COPYLEFT_PN_EXCLUDE = "zlib"

2. Build core-image-minimal
bitbake core-image-minimal

3. Check that 'zlib' is excluded and 'busybox' is included:
in tmp/deploy/sources/x86_64-poky-linux/

Additional test:
1. Clear the $BUILDDIR/tmp dir
2. Invert COPYLEFT_PN_INCLUDE AND COPYLEFT_PN_EXCLUDE
3. Build core-image-minimal
4. Check that 'zlib' is included and 'busybox' is excluded.
